Water Festival

The fishing derby takes place south of 1A
Highway Bridge (on the large portion of the lake). Fishing off docks and off
shore is allowed on the south side of the lake. Any participants eligible for a
prize will be required to prove their registration by producing the receipt
issued from the Town office. There are strictly enforced rules with the derby
and rules sheet will be provided upon registration.
All boats will be required to adhere to
Department of Transportation boating safety regulations and must have sufficient
life jackets for all passengers, a horn, a bailer, lights, paddles, and a valid
fishing license for that day. Inspections and heavy monitoring will be
conducted throughout the derby and you may be asked to produce these items while
fishing. Participants unable to do so will be disqualified from the derby.
Participants will be required to wave a red
flag (received upon registration) to indicate the catching of what you believe
to be a prize fish. Marshal’s are identified by a blue flag on their boats will
proceed to the participant to record the catch. We are stressing catch and
release. After 12 noon, marshals will conduct a short meeting to determine
winners. Photos and prizes will be awarded at Sunset Beach at 12:30 pm.
